2023 | Today I Started Blogging Again
Oh no.
I thought it would be nice to have a little spot on the site I can easily refer to for updates, since in my hermitage I don’t really find myself being able to easily keep up with social media (all of them demanding their own format is a big part of that, but that’s a gripe for another time). My own small web space I can just link off to seems like the perfect way to deal with this, provided I can set aside the time to write.
Before I get into the weeds, just to catch up; 2022 was a good year. I had my first legitimate exhibition in a venue that was specifically for showing art (immediately before the pandemic I gave 50 Euro to the Methodist Church and so was allowed to hang up paintings in Limerick City), my first radio interview and for the first time I had music I wrote get airtime (twice!), I had a small and brief but extremely exciting appearance in the Hunt Museum, joined a cult, made some album art for a dear friend and polished off some completely unnecessary legal paperwork. I had a lot of firsts and I hope I can top it all this year and in the coming years. I also tried nian gao a few days ago, it was great.
So! It’s 2023, year of the rabbit, I’m giving myself permission to be the worst possible version of myself, but what does that mean?
The Agenda
Currently, for the first half of the year I have two projects on the backburner.
1) An EP and animated music video, short physical cd run tentatively planned.
no concrete release date but I imagine it should be done before May, given our current progress.
2) A zine project with my teacher, James Donlon, currently planned for release in February to coincide with James’ 2023 weekend retreats.
Then following that I have some less developed or immediate plans like
3) A New series of Oil Paintings
4) The dissemination of disturbing occult propaganda
In June, July or possibly some time later, I’ve planned to have a surgery and so this year I won’t be taking on very many in-real-life commitments. While this is true, I’m technically free up until the day they drill into me so as always, I am proficient in balloon modelling, face paint, and can twist my thumbs backwards. Call it direct, call it collect, but call it today.
